This district, which Mehmet the conqueror said “I have entrusted this city to Allah”, is nowadays getting ready to make a name for itself with branded housing projects and investment opportunities.

It is located on the European side. The 1,715 km² district has a coast to both the Marmara Sea and the Black Sea. Most of the area is covered by forests. The length of the beach is 135 km and the distance to the centre is 55 km. It is neighbour to Avcılar, Küçükçekmece, Gaziosmanpaşa Büyükçekmece and Silivri as well as Tekirdağ province. It is the largest district in Istanbul in terms of area.

Çatalca hosts important resources such as Terkos Lake and Sazlıdere Dam, where Istanbul meets its water needs. Almost every village has a picnic area and plane trees up to 500 years old. There are still structures that hosted Greeks before the exchange and were built with Greek architecture.

It is 55 km from Istanbul. You can come to Çatalca with your car via E-5 and TEM or by sea. You can reach Çatalca by taking the Eminönü-Büyükçekmece fast ferry to Büyükçekmece and moving 17 km from there.

District’s economy is based on agriculture, textile livestock and industry. Sunflower, which is an industrial plant, is one of the most cultivated products in agricultural areas. Apart from these, barley, melon, watermelon and various vegetables are among its valuable products.

Çatalca is the district with the maximum villages in Istanbul. Çatalca is the smallest district of Istanbul after the Islands and Şile in terms of population. There are forty-two villages, sixteen of which are affiliated with the central municipality, within the boundaries of the district.
